Everything you need to know about getting started with Affordable Psych.
Getting Started
Do I need a referral to become a patient?
No referral is needed. You can book directly online through our scheduling portal. Simply select a new patient appointment and choose a time that works for you.
Who is eligible to become a patient?
We serve adults (18 and older) who currently reside in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, or Florida. You must be located within one of these states at the time of your appointment.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your first visit is a 60-minute comprehensive evaluation. Tyler will review your medical and mental health history, current symptoms, medications, and treatment goals. Together, you'll build a personalized care plan that may include medications, lab testing, or supplements.
How do I access my appointment?
All appointments are conducted via Doxy.me — a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform that requires no app or download. Simply click the link below at your appointment time and you'll be placed in a virtual waiting room until Tyler joins.
You'll need a device with a camera and microphone — a smartphone, tablet, or laptop all work great. We recommend testing your camera and audio a few minutes before your scheduled visit time.
Pricing & Insurance
Do you accept insurance?
We are a cash-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. However, our pricing is often comparable to or less than many insurance copays — with no surprise bills and no claim delays. We can provide a superbill upon request for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
Why are your prices so affordable?
We operate as a virtual-only practice, which significantly reduces overhead. We also do not prescribe controlled substances, which eliminates costly regulatory requirements. These savings are passed directly to our patients.
When is payment due?
Payment is collected at the time of booking. We accept all major credit cards through our secure scheduling portal.
Medications & Treatment
What conditions do you treat?
We specialize in medication management for anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and more for adults 18 and older. If you're unsure whether we're a good fit, feel free to reach out before booking.
Do you prescribe controlled substances?
No. We do not prescribe controlled substances such as Xanax, Adderall, Ritalin, or similar medications. This is a deliberate choice that allows us to keep our prices low. We do prescribe many effective non-controlled medications for anxiety, depression, ADHD, and mood disorders.
How are prescriptions sent?
Prescriptions are sent electronically to your preferred pharmacy. Most patients can pick up their medications within 24 hours of their appointment.
How often will I need follow-up appointments?
This varies based on your treatment plan. Generally, new patients are seen every 4–8 weeks initially, then less frequently once stable. Tyler will recommend a follow-up schedule tailored to your needs at your first visit.
Still have questions?
We're happy to help. Reach out by phone, email, or book a new patient appointment and we can answer any questions during your visit.
