A long way from anywhere, in either direction

Panama City is roughly a hundred miles from Tallahassee and a hundred from Pensacola. When local psychiatric capacity is full — and in a region this size it fills — the alternatives are two hours of highway in either direction for a twenty-minute appointment.

The Panhandle has also spent years rebuilding after Hurricane Michael, and behavioural health capacity here has been rebuilding along with everything else. Demand did not pause while that happened.

I’m Tyler Patten, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner licensed in Florida. Appointments are by video: $175 for a full first hour, $65 for follow-ups, usually available within the week.

What psychiatric care costs in Panama City without insurance

Published, flat, cash-pay pricing — no insurance and no surprise bill later.

VisitPrice
New patient evaluation — 60 minutes with Tyler$175
Follow-up visit — 20 minutes$65
Typical Panama City-area private psychiatrist, first visit, out of pocket$250–$500
Typical follow-up, out of pocket$100–$250

Payment is collected after your appointment, not when you book. A valid card is kept securely on file and charged once the visit is complete. No insurance is billed, so there is no deductible to meet and no surprise bill weeks later.

Continuity where distance usually breaks it

Psychiatric medication is refined through follow-up, and a two-hour drive is what destroys follow-up. Twenty minutes on video every one to three months keeps the plan moving.

I don’t prescribe controlled substances — no stimulants, no benzodiazepines. Florida has a great many telehealth practices built around exactly that; this isn’t one of them.

Antidepressants, mood stabilizers, non-stimulant ADHD medication and non-habit-forming options for anxiety and sleep, reviewed honestly rather than renewed by default.
